These precious insights into James' family life were sent by Elda Resare who died in 2006. I thought that I had saved the attachment containing these letters on a CD just before the computer died. I tried to open them--years after receiving them--and couldn't get the program to work. I was told that I hadn't saved the attachments correctly and wouldn't be able to access them. I was devastated because I didn't know how I would ever get another copy of the letters, and prayed for help. I clicked on the attachment, and miraculously! the attachment opened, and here are the letters! Enjoy them. They have wonderful insights about JSL as well as his family and neighbors. Especially poignant is the report of the drowning of Aunt Matilda's 3 year old son in the creek in Albion.
